Our Story
It all began with a chance meeting. We were in love before we even knew it. I had curiosity about sailing adventures on my mind. Carlos wanted to own his own boat and experience long passage sailing. And, the rest, as they say, is history. What a way to share our lives together!
Our Travels
We will chronicle our adventures, the people we meet, and the places we visit while on the SS Bubista II - a Leopard 39 sailing Catamaran. Along the way, you will learn about the motivations and dreams that anchor this lifestyle, as well as contributions of Black and Indigenous peoples to the sailing communities and industries.
Our Learnings
Carlos has many decades of experience on the water: merchant marine, boat ownership for over 30 years, and certified captain. He is all things mechanical & electrical and can fix anything in a pinch. Be sure to check out his tips for troubleshooting some of those pesky and sometimes dangerous boat set up and navigation challenges.

Part of our reason for sailing and traveling is to explore parts of the world that teach us about our interconnectedness to our Pan-African family. Learning about Indigenous peoples and cultures have been incredibly enriching and fulfilling for us. There is also the pleasure of meeting kind and fun people of all backgrounds and walks of life who have embrace a free spirit lifestyle.
