We’ve hit a few stumbling blocks along the way, and have explored ways to troubleshoot challenges, all while pushing forward with our sailing goals. This has made our experiences all the more rewarding. But, if you can learn from us - save yourselves some headaches and money by reading and watching our learnings, ideas and improvements below!

  • OH NO! Salt water in the starboard locker!!

    Our confidence was shattered when we tried to start the starboard engine and found the engine sitting in 8 inches of water. Watch the video to see how Carlos recovered, diagnosed and ultimately got the engine running.

    Painful Loss of the Autopilot

  • Hatch Leak Repair

    As we traversed the choppier waters of the Gulf, we found that the berth hatches, especially the port bow, leaked tremendously. Here’s a video that explains the fix, and we’ll update when we take the boat out of dry dock in the spring of 2022.

    There has to be a full plan for your winterization, especially in the Northeast. Carlos and his brother worked to lower the sails, other friends helped with securing the boat and sanding/painting the bottom.
